Paula Abdul could make her triumphant return to the televised talent competition genre with ABC's revival of the Ed McMahon classic "Star Search."
According to EW, the ex-American Idol judge is putting the final touches on a deal with ABC to headline a resurrected version of the same show that once discovered Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera -- expected to air this summer.
Rumors are Abdul will do a mix of hosting and judging, but a rep for the network refused to comment.

The sentencing hearing for Erin Andrews' convicted stalker is today -- and last night, the ESPN reporter was "very nervous" about seeing him in court.
Erin scoffed at Michael David Barrett's plea for Peeping Tom probation, saying, "I wouldn't let him get out of jail."
As we previously reported, prosecutors are asking the judge to sentence Barrett to 27 months behind bars.

Samantha Harris' "Dancing with the Stars" replacement has been chosen -- and it's someone who's already been on the show.
ABC just announced Brooke Burke will be stepping in as Tom Bergeron's sidekick for the new season of the show -- which starts March 22.
Burke was on the show back in 2008 -- and she won.

We're going to find out soon if Kate Gosselin has two left feet, but already know she's got one lead foot -- because she was busted again for speeding.
Gosselin got a ticket on February 21 in Latimore Township, PA for going 73 mph in a 55 mph zone. But Kate didn't let it linger -- she pled guilty just five days later and paid a $155.50 fine.
Kate did almost the exact same thing back in November 2009 and paid a $109.50 fine.

Erin Andrews wants to leave the peephole incident behind for good -- and "Dancing with the Stars" is her ticket to doing it.
During an interview on WCNN Atlanta, Andrews said, "I need something new. I need something to make me happy, kind of change it up a bit, get excited about things again and I just thought that ["Dancing with the Stars"] would be a good way to forget about everything that had happened and maybe talk about something new with my life."
Andrews is partnered with pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy -- who reportedly blushed at the thought of dancing with the ESPN vixen.
